I have been cross training with spin classes and wow is the tush sore!  So, I am looking at bike shorts.  I am finding them between $20- $160.  Quite a range.  I wanted to know if yall had any advice or favorite brands.  If it is worth the investment, I dont mind saving up some pennies to get more expensive ones.  Thanks in advance for your opinions!

My bike shorts are sugoi's and cost me about $90. They have define padding. My tri shorts are actually a bib from DeSoto and run about 150 much less padding than the bike shorts but still comfortable.

I'm glad you asked. I'm looking into the same thing. The spin teachers have us spending an unreasonable amount of time out of the saddle though ...

Speaking of saddles, if the shorts work for the bike, I may try riding the horse in them. Holy seat bones, Batman!

I have the answer for the horse....I have a super thick sheepskin cover (a bit pricey) that was fantastic!  Cant remember where I got it though!

I have the Pearl Izumi Superstar knickers.. LOVE THEM.  The chamois is very comfortable.  I wanted something that covered my entire thigh since that's where most of my loose skin is.. also the superstar has a slit on the bottom so they don't bind to your calf at all.  I think I paid around $80.

Good quality shorts/Capri's/pants (whatever you choose) with a nice thick chamois (the padding) are worth spending the money on. You don't want to cheap out because it does matter. However, you can find sales and get expensive items for affordable prices.

Locally we have a Pearl Izumi outlet that gives great deals, there is also some great on line retailers that sell high quality items at discounted rates. So, bottom line, unless the shorts are originally $60+ and marked down to $20...don't bother.

Here's some sites:

I use a gel seat that you can get at target for under 15 bucks... it helps but your butt will get used to it
