Do I really burn that many calories?

I would disagree and here is why - If I (270lbs)  finish a mile race in 7 minutes and look next to me where a 140 pounder just finished beside me, you can't tell me that we burned the same calories.  That is why I think it makes sence to connect burned calories to weight.  It's not the only factor but it has to factor in.  I could be wrong though.

Well, you'd think that, but apparently it all averages out when they measure real people. For example, the 140 pounder may not be lugging around as much weight but maybe they have a higher VO2Max. (The higher it is, the more you burn too.)

Which is not to say that you guys burn exactly the same even in the studies, but when you only look at net (i.e, you take your RMR calories out) and you compare that, the differences are a few calories per mile. I think if you leave in the RMR calories, then the differences are much larger.

But the Net Calories are the ones that you get to eat as extra. The RMR calories are already accounted for in your daily allotment.
