actually the intervals aren't so bad.. I'm experimenting with this training strategy of very few long slow workouts, and almost all high intensity or interval workouts... so this is the replacement for a long run and my last tuneup before my first half of the season weekend after next...

cool, i'm interested in seeing your results.  i'm going to look for a better training method for marathons after my goofy misfortune.

I am following an intensity -based program, too. I joined Endurance Nation. What is your program?

I am doing my own thing, but I read that endurance nation stuff last week, and its sounds very similar.  Basically I read several in depth articles which pushed this idea that the long slow distance stuff we do as our "prime" workouts every week really add very little benefit.  We need them as IM types, but they shouldn't be the focus.  So this off season I have just stayed with intervals for long work for the most part, and all my workouts take me way up on HR :)

Ran 7 miles early this morning because we were getting  a downpour later today. So my quest continues. Went to the gym after work and did 12 minutes of tabatas. Tomorrow morning should be another great weather day.

6.4 miles on the treadmill, including a 5k time trial. I went out too fast on the 5k, so I didn't see a big improvement over my last test. I ran an average 8:48 pace vs 9 five weeks ago.
