Knee

Why is it when things are going well, something else knocks you off course?

I had decided to toss something else into my excercise/cardio experience at the gym, but for the past few days my right knee has been acting like I sprained the MCL again. My trainer told me to take the rest of the week off to let it heal. I'm totally bummed. I don't know if I did it running up the stairs to my flat, or on a patch of ice. I suspect the ice because it involved skidding and one leg and some interesting balancing theatrics. Doesn't hurt as much as when I did it back in November. It's still frustrating as all hell because it interfered with my workouts...and I just got into taking spin!

So I did ice and ibuprofen for the inflammation. I don't take it that often, but I'm not one who digs pain and Tylenol doesn't do potatoes for me. I also bought a knee brace online from Binsons that supports the patella (I have a significant maltracking problem). I think if I can keep the knee cap stabalized and centered where it's supposed to be I can stay on top of the issue.

The majority of my knee problems weren't caused by my obesity, but it definately exacerbated them. I guess it's just something I'm going to have to deal with for the rest of my days.

Sorry...just ranting.

Yep it always seems like when things are going well something bad has to happen, whether it is related to exercise or everyday life.  Chalk up to Murphys law or something I guess.

Ranting can help though, and there are a lot of people here for support.  Good luck with the knee and hopefully things will be back to normal eventually.

If you literally just started spin, could that be aggravating it? I haven't had trouble with my knees since shortly after surgery, but the last few days I have tried to do some of the spin class DVD and my knees are really painful. Trainer said she is going to get me some exercises to help strengthen some of the supporting muscles. We'll see
