LeBron James Bikes to Work

By Alyssa Gerety

Imagine you’re in downtown Miami, the ING Miami Marathon & Half Marathon are underway, streets are blocked off, traffic is piling up, and you’ve got to get to work. Now imagine you’re LeBron James.

James grabbed his bike and pedaled about three miles to the AmericanAirlines Arena for his game on Sunday, January 29, against the Chicago Bulls.

James—who went on to perform a crazy one-handed dunk over John Lucas in the Heat’s 97-93 win—is not a stranger to cycling. LeBron gives away hundreds of bikes to kids in his hometown of, Akron, Ohio, during the LeBron James Family Foundation’s annual King for Kids Bikeathon.

Will James make cycling to home games a habit? If he does, he won’t be alone. According to the 2009 American Community Survey, 766,000 Americans hop on a bike for their daily commute.
