and yet another running question

I have been using C25K, but I really enjoying working out daily. C25K suggests skipping a day between runs.  I currently walk/jog an hour every other day doing the C25K during the workout.  I have some very specific goals I want to hit, including a 1/2 Marathon in September.  I think this is very doable.  I finally feel that when I am running, I no longer am shuffling and can keep a certain pace.  So, here is the question- should I keep going like I am- or can I throw in cross training, bike, weights etc, without hurting myself?   Or should I get to my goal of consistly running a  5K and then add the cross training?  I am really enjoying myself and want to run/walk daily but not at the expense of my goal.  I hope this makes sense.  Thanks in advance for your help!

oh I am up to just over 4 miles consistantly in an hour and did 3.1 in 40 minutes on my last work out.

Thanks for one more of many questions!!

The best fitness planhas a mix of cardio and weights so yes add the weights. As for cross training I say go for it on your non run days.  My workouts typically have 3 days of running with 1 being a weekend long run.  The rest of the days are mixed with Spin swimming and weights 5 days a week.  Be sure to rotate your muscle groups and it probably isn't best to pummel your legs running and then turn around and do weights the next day and then try to run after.  I always do legs on a run day.

Thanks Paul.   I know this is a stupid question-but- I have only ever eliptical machine once, mostly becuase I felt uncoordinated. Is it similar to running?  I hate the treadmill but will use it if I have to.  Since I am lighter and in MUCH better shape would the elipitical be something I could do on a rainy day in place of running?  Or is it a day off machine?

not Paul but my trainer told me I could train on the elliptical for getting ready to run (jog ) 5ks while I was down with a foot injury. Just do the same thing - sprint intervals, increase intensity, etc
