What is a fitbit and is it helpful?

It's a pedometer.

It has an accelerometer in it and it gives you an estimate of how many steps you've walked that day and how many calories you've burned.

People like it because it's small so it can fit into a pocket or your bra and because the website is super fancy. Plus it's cheaper than a BodyMedia FIT which also has a pedometer in it but also 3 other sensors so the calorie burn numbers tend to be more accurate on average. But it's more expensive.
