Can someone tell me how long after surgery i can start doing light exercises i had a VSG on 1-11-12.

you should consult with your surgeon.  i walked every day until 6 weeks out and then i was cleared for all exercise.

I second that, check with your doc, but my pattern was similar to what Bill mentioned.
I walked and then jogged for the first 6 weeks.  After that the doc cleared me for unrestricted exercise as I could tolerate it.

He actually cleared me for light lifting at my one month visit, but he wanted me to not do core work and to use a machine where I was supported or didn't have to worry about engaging the core muscles.
