I had a pinched nerve last year that lasted for about 6 months. the nerve affected my entire left leg. During this period of time i favored my right leg becuase of the shooting pain i was having. now my left leg is extremely weak and i tend to drag it  a little when i walk. does anyone know any excersises that can help with increasing my leg strength. i know that physical therapy is going to be needed but i just started to pay off my surgery so im tapped on money right now. any suggestions would help.

a therapist will probably start you with some basic leg exercises

Leg lift on your side and back possibly on your belly.  Basic balance exercises, you wouldn't believe how much effort goes into staying balanced until you have issues with a leg muscle.  Eventually you will probably do some form of squat.

If you look at leg and hip exercises for runners those are a lot of what a PT would probably have you doing.
