I am usually on a 1000 cal diet.  I am starting some classes at the gym and doing some work outs on the class off days... how many calories should i add if any to my diet?   When i work out i tend to not lose weight due to eatting poorly. (go figure right?)

I wouldnt necessarily change the amount of calories, but just focus on the quality of your food choices. Focus on nutritious foods that will fuel your body and you should be fine.

Have you talked to your dietician/nutrionist?   From what  I understand from them,  you might want to increase your intake slightly.  The reason is that, you are working out and not increasing,   your body might think it's starving itself.  But double check it with the people at your center.

Personally I couldn't live on 1,000 calories a day-I'd feel deprived, and then I'd eat more.

I would not go below 1,200.  And I'd eat 6-7 small meals a day to keep the metabolism revved up.

If you are doing extremely strenuous exercise, I'd go up to 1,500 on those days, and of course, eat protein first.  I eat a 6-7 oz grilled chicken breast every single day as a "snack" (one of my meals).

Also, don't rely solely on the scale to see success.  Often when the body is building muscle you'll hold onto more water weight.  Wat*****hes and how your clothes fit to see the true results.

If you really have fat to lose, it will go in time.
