Hamstring follow up
So not the news I was hoping for. While the Hamstring is healed it is still pretty tight. 6 more weeks of therapy to work on stretching and rebuild endurance of the muscle. See the docotr again in 6 weeks.
Doctor: So when is your next race?
Me: Half Marathon in Feb
Doctor: Sorry not going to happen.
Me: Full Marathon in March.
Doctor: Probably not. How would you finish?
Me: Pure determination and refusing to give up.
Doctor: Thats what got you here this time. You will have about 6 weeks to train and even then the muscle may not be fully prepared.
Me: Half in March? (Yes I went from saying this is what I am doing to asking if it was possible)
Doctor: That is probably doable.
Needless to say I am not a very happy camper right now. I'm going to talk with my Physical Therapist and see if we can come up with a rehab program that will allow me to not fully lose my base since I will be at like 12-14 weeks of no running.
Someone please tell me that with the fairly solid base I had it won't be like starting from square 1.

I don't know the answer, but I asked my cousin who has been running for 20 years. His reply was not any better than your doctor's. He said you will have lost most of your base, and be starting at square one. He said cross-training is great, but not the same as the act of actually running.
So, this was his thoughts. He isn't a doctor, but just a long time runner and marathon runner.
Here's hoping that others disagree with what I just typed, but really I think it all depends on the person, and with your determination, I think anything is possible. Certainly the 1/2.
