going to an event totally/most unprepared
Sue,
My first marathon was the Disney marathon. I actually met Cassie at that event. It was wonderful and the best managed event I have ever done. You have a great attitude. I would suggest to all of you to take it all in. Take your time to talk to everyone. Everyone down there is either a runner, or related to a runner. There is so much pride and enthusism that it just sort of takes your breath away. There are veterans, 50-state racers, and newbies, but everyone wants to hear your story and share there own.
Two suggestions. Wear a shirt with your name on it so the participants can shout encouragement. After the marathon, always walk down stairs backward, even getting off the buses. For some reason it is much easier on the leg muscles. And number three, have some fun.
