I looked at your recent posts and didnt see anything on the RNY forum. What thread was it on? I like stirring the RNY pot once in a while. I am "Encouraged" to frequent other boards from time to time as a Certified OH Support Group Leader... :)

I dole out regular helpings of tough love on the RNY and Main boards.  I am not going to hand hold fools that 3 weeks out are eating Big Macs.  I tell it like it is--and those "I've regained and don't know what I did wrong" posts....well, I tell them exactly what the truth is.  Most of the time, the haters stay away, and the ones that don't, I just block.  I do not have time for foolishness, but I do feel an obligation to tell the truth.

Based on what I see on these boards, there are many very broken people that are being allowed to have WLS when they really need intense therapy....first.

If someone asks, I tell them that I eat 1,500-2,000 calories per day, with 120+ of carbs and protein.  I do not drink protein shakes, and never have.

Some of these people think they can live forever on 700 calories per day and most of that in shakes....REALITY CHECK FOLKS!!

I preach that if you don't move your body, you should keep your fat clothes because the future will likely include regain.  Again, not what they want to hear, but the truth.

I do get some PM's thanking me for being honest and paying it forward.  I can't stand the foolishness on some of the boards and the surgery wars.....this, by far, is the best most supportive board full of people that "get it".

Hugs!!

I post on the RNY Forum frequently and like most I just tell it like it is and don't go in for the "You poor soul it will be ok".  The truth is that more often the OP will appreciate your honesty more than people replying to the OP.  I have had a few OPs go off on me because they don't like what I have to say and there are a few people and topics I make a point of jumping in and commenting on.

A big topic for me is Protein Bars and how many people actually eat them.  I can see if you have trouble meeting your protein goal for some reason or you are our and about and camping, hell that is why I use them, but most people want a "Healthy" Candy Bar and you can tell that from the way they ask the question and also the way people respond to the question.  Really what is the difference between a snickers bar and a pure protein chocolate brownie bar?

Another topic I jump on are the NO Carb threads because most people on them are clueless as to what they are saying.  One guy was actually preaching that he does no carbs and that beans are one of the worst forms of carbs out there and then states he eats fruit daily.

People he need a serious eductation before they take on this lifestyle and if people listened to those who are now living and enjoying life they might not get so pissed.

Not everyone on that forum is so blind and some of the regulars on that forum are actually real nice, but you have to find out which ones you get along with and which ones you won't.

I am excited the exercise forum is here. So many Vets with a wealth of information to pass on and educate us on how we can achieve the same goals as all of you.    As a newbie and a lover of exercise I can’t wait to post my achievements.  I have a lot of question on how to fuel for my runs and bike rides.
