Just got the waiver email and the last minute instructions.
Momentary flash of panic, it's only 4 weeks away and I'm sick and not training.
Screw that I can grind out 26.2 miles, I'm in good shape and I can do it.
It may not be the fastest 26.2 i'm capable of, but it will be a P.R. because it will be my first one.
After seeing people complete 26.2 last week who didn't look like they could make the walk down their driveway to the mailbox, I'm sure I can do this.
For those of you that are running, what pace are you hoping for.
My bib number is 5397

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
I am a bit unsure.. havent been able to get any long runs in since my last half at the end of October. I've had good intensive 6 milers, but nothing more. Everytime I plan a long run something pops up, and I've been dealing with being sick several times now. On top of that, I am now dealing with a serious ankle sprain which came out of no where (its a recurring issue for me), so I'm not even sure I can do a long run this weekend...and I have all sorts of job issues that may be peaking in early January...
I may end up just flying down an doing the half instead of the goofy. Or else just walk/running the goofy, assuming the work problems don't make me put the whole thing off. Kind of bummed about it. On the other hand, I am thinking, how cool would it be for me to do the Goofy with almost no Goofy specific training and no long runs for 2 months prior?

That's kind of how I was feeling.
Could I grind out 26.2 miles with nothing longer than 13 and that was back in October.
I bet we could do it barring any injuries like you have Andrew.
We could hobble acros the finish line together.

I am gonna try and do one long run. If I do that, and the ankle heals a bit, I might shoot for a 3 hour half, which would have a lot of walking, and then a 5.5 hour full, which would would be almost 3:2 run/walk ratio for me. I'm thinking for goofy it would be great to do it this way anyway, take the pressure off and just really enjoy it. It would be my first event that wasn't totally intense ;) Not sure if I could pull that part off!
i ran 3 miles yesterday. my IT band burned from top to bottom.
I am looking at 2 miles "run", 1 mile walk. all the way through Goofy and just enjoying the experience for as long as I can. Anyone is welcome to join John (my boyfriend) and I during our "slow, we're getting our money's worth" Goofy Challenge. The competitive spirit in me is getting a beat down, so might as well aim for a P.W. (personal worse) and have a good time.
