My Butt it getting TOO big!
I am not one of those people that likes a big booty. I have been exercising vigorously for the past year and I know it's all muscle and not fat. My legs are very muscular and as well but I can live with them.
My body fat percentage was very low back in April when I went for Bod pod testing so I increased my calories to try to gain a "little" weight. Well, since having my gall bladder out in August I've gained 9 lbs. I figure some is fat and some is muscle.
My waist has gotten "thicker" as a result of all the core work I do but my pants still all fit okay in the waist, it's just the butt's that are getting too tight!
I really don't want to have to go out and buy new clothes AGAIN! I just built a new wardrobe after losing my weight.
I have pedals that I have under my desk that I spin on for 60 minutes 4 days a week, when I'm done my butt is sore. I speed walk/run 7 - 14 km per day depending on whether I take 1 dog or both my dogs for outings (I generally alternate days with them since I run about 6 km of the "walk") these walks are up and down hills in my neighbourhood. This is my typical route. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/embed/131961046
I try to hike at least once or twice on the weekend for 15-25 kms at a very brisk pace with some trail running for part of the route.
I do core/resistance training exercises with an exercise ball and weighted resistance bands with some light hand weights as well. They are Billy Blanks workouts and I do them 3 times a week with either one video or both.
What should I cut back on to try and slim down my butt? Would stopping the pedaling help? I have to walk the dogs and I really love to run so I don't want to stop that. I HAVE to hike, it's my passion and I typically hike in very hilly areas, would slowing down help? I don't think the Billy Blanks exercises are causing the problem and I love doing them so would hate to have to give them up.
I have an elliptical but I haven't used it lately, I tend to use it in the winter when the weather is horrible and I don't want to go outside. I used it last winter and it didn't make my butt bigger so hopefully it will be safe to use this winter.

You want to avoid stuff that works the glutes. So, yeah, watch out for the pedalling.

I'm going to try climbing hills slower instead of blasting up them like I've been doing. I really wish I could swim but I'm crap at it and there really isn't a pool near me that has convenient times for adult swim/lenghts.
I'm going to ditch the pedaling for a month and alternate running and speed walking days and see what happens.
