I have a big fear that once I have surgery and begin to lose weight i will not look right. Has anyone else had this fear? I know I should not care how i look because it's for health reasons but im scared.....

I don't particularly like my body, but I sure love it more than I loved being morbidly obese.

If you let fear control your life, you will never be happy.

It's been 4 months since my surgery. I have watched the mirror and scales almost daily. The mirror doesn't tell me much. The scales have told a different story.

Looking in the mirror - I still see me. Looking at before surgery pictures will show a bigger me.

THINK ABOUT THIS...YOU WILL STILL BE YOU!!! THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS YOU SHOULD BE HEALTHIER AND FEEL MUCH BETTER.

Here is how I look at it.

How will I look at 55, in a casket because I died an early death of obsiety.

Sorry to be blunt.

Just remember those health reasons and that the looks are secondary. I go with Roy on this one. If I hadn't had the surgery I wouldn't be typing this note today. I work hard at exercising to keep fit now, but It's great to have that opportunity.

You will look fine, and you will feel GREAT.

I've lost 95 pounds off my top weight of 232 (about 6 months before surgery), and I look a little bit deflated now, but not nearly as bad as I thought I would look. And nothing saggy or lumpy shows when I'm fully dressed. My running duds show off a little loose skin on my legs and arms, but I think of those as my medals for losing the weight. Every flapping bit is worth it when I think of all the things I can do now that I couldn't do a year ago.

I don't think I was ever worried about how I would look because I was so unhealthy and felt so bad before.

I see a healthy, toned woman in the mirror when I stand there "butt nekkid".  The actual reflection is a 46 year old overly confident woman with some extra skin covering her extremely buff body!!

Seriously, don't worry about it!  Exercise for good health and wear your Spanx with the clingy dresses....oh, and I'll tell you this....my extra butt skin gives me the appearance of a J Lo butt, even though mine aint near as firm!!
