Scared.
So August of 2010 was my first 5k. From there I did a couple more 5k's, a 10k & a 12k. Since May I haven't participated in any events, I've just been going to the gym. I am trying to get back into running and have decided I am going to do my first half marathon in March!! I am excited!
So my husband has been doing tri's. He's talked about me joining him, but I am not a swimmer AT ALL, so... anyways, he found a dualathon. Run 2 mi, bike 7, run 2. When he first told me about it I was all "totally!, Yes! I'll do it!" It's next month. I am sooo scared. The run part I am confident. 4 miles. I can do that. The bike part is just terrifying me! I have only ridden my cruiser around our neighborhood. I have never done an event with a bike... and to be honest, riding a bike in that way just scares me. I am scared I will fall. I just feel like I am going to feel out of control and I am scared to ride with others in a race. I'm freaked out. I am going to be borrowing a bike. I know I need to get on a bike and get out there and just train, train, train for the next month, but I really am very scared. very. very. very. Part of me just wants to tell him I am not going to do it, but I know that's not the right answer.

I hadn't been on any bike in well over 15yrs and last October I bought a road bike, started riding (very wobbly I might add) and 7months later I rode my bike 545miles in one week. You've already become a runner, this will be a much easier transition for you.
Good luck,
:Danni

My wife and I agreed that our next overnight vacation will be to UC Davis to see the arboretum...I'm bringing my bicycle.
Another thing you could do is use a bike that more upright. There are plenty of bikes that are upright and that are light weight. It will help you feel more secure. Stay away from the packs during the race and you should be OK...No promises. But go for it girl!!

Bicycling has been a popular mode of transportation in Davis for decades, particularly among UC Davis students. In 2010, Davis became the new home of the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame.
Davis racksBicycle infrastructure became a political issue in the 1960s, culminating in the election of a pro-bicycle majority to the City Council in 1966.[18] By the early 1970s, Davis became a pioneer in the implementation of cycling facilities. As the city expands, new facilities are usually mandated. As a result, Davis residents today enjoy an extensive network of bike lanes, bike paths, and grade-separated bicycle crossings.[19][20][21] The flat terrain and temperate climate are also conducive to bicycling.
