OK so I'm 3months post op I haven't been exercising that much far as sit-ups, cardio or anything like that. I want too in I'm pretty sure its time that i start so I won't have that much flab!! The only good thing out of this that I'm active around the house in out doors... OK First question?? What gets you really motivated to start working out?? Second most important question how do get a good work out of your arms and at least work some flab off?????

I have a couple of motivations.  I love to see the scale move down.  I am a competitive person, so I like to push myself a little harder each work out.  I have 4 kids and want to meet my future grandchildren.  My wife has had 3 strokes in the past 18 months.... I am really motivated to become heathier so i can continue to care for her needs.

I guess what I am saying is, you have to look inside yourself and find what motivates you.  You can get a hundred replies to this post, but if none hit home, it will not help....look inside, you will find it.  (good grief, i sound like a woman................ I am going back to the MENS board)

Being motivated really starts with you and no one else, think about the outcome that will happen once you start to working out. its all about being a new and healthier you.

I was the one who loved to workout when i did it, but once i stop i stop having the motivation to go back in.

So i would say now that i had my surgery i started going back to the gym and just started doing my cardio and do some crunches or something. When i finish i felt really good and with me seeing lbs going down and inches and that's your great motivation right there.

Once you find your motivation nothing can stop you, i go to the gym and the people i meet there are my motivation because they help me and even motivate  me even more.

now, to get a good workout you would need to try adding weights in your workout. building muscle is key and that's whats gonna help you with your flab.

people always say cardio cardio cardio, which is true but add some strength training to tone up and you really gonna see some results..

Do a fun class something like Zumba or Carribean Cardio. Those classes make me want to come back because it's fun and you get a great workout while dancing and meeting friends

My motivation is to improve from the last time.   So...sometimes it is just, as Nike says...DO IT!  Start slow, get your confidence, don't worry about anyone but YOU.  Fine what you like.  Try to find variety so you don't burn out.  Cross training helps keep you well rounded (as opposed to being rounded ) and mixes things up.

Now...I need to follow my own advice and get in the gym for some weights instead of just being on the bike!  Answering your questions motivates me.  TANX!
