exercise and 2 week pre-op diet - how to schedule drinks

I start my 2 week pre-op diet today.  YAY!     My program allows for up to 4 protien drinks per day plus the following:

  1. One 8oz cup skim milk per day
  2. Protein Pudding (follow the recipe on a box of sugar free/fat free pudding mix, add two scoops of approved protein powder. Serving size = ½ cup per day)
  3. One serving of low-carb yogurt per day (i.e. CarbMaster at Kroger)
Of course, unlimited SF drinks, water, etc. are allowed.

My most intense workouts are the three nights a week I meet my trainer when we do cardio and weights.   On workout days, how should I schedule my intake to provide for maximum available energy for exercise?  What about after the workout?   My thinking is a shake about an hour prior and the yogurt "dinner" after I get home.  Does it matter or am overthinking this?    Thanks!

A shake before (about 30 mins to an hour) and the pudding or yogurt after sounds good....you may need to tailor your workout a bit as your energy level may plummet during these two weeks.

Hats off to you for making exercise an important part of the process!  It made my recovery soo much easier.

Wow, you weren't kidding about the energy drop!  It has already happened.   I struggled through my workout last night and felt like I had really low blood sugar towards the end.

What Kim said.  If you haven't already this maybe the time to discuss this with your trainer incase you do hit a wall.  You may find it hard further into your preop diet to get the extra energy to push as hard as you or your trainer may want, and then after surgery energy levels may be difficult for a while.

Awesome on hitting the exercise and seeing its value before surgery.

Good point about discussing with my trainer.  Will do that when we meet tomorrow.
