Any one here do BRAG?
I have not but have read about it and it does sound fun. Since it is x Miles a day and is geared for riders of all levels you could be more than ready with some effort.

I haven't done that but I've done AIDS/LifeCycle which is similar. I bet if you started training now, you could do it. Esp. since you have the option of miles to omit or take a break from.
I hadn't been on a bike in YEARS last Oct. but I went out bought a bike, started riding, and in June road all 545 miles.
Happy Riding!

I have a few acquaintances who have done it. I have no doubt I could complete it, but riders have problems with dogs during BRAG. I did a century about an hour away and almost got mauled by a pit bull, so its not for me while we live here. I would love to do the AIDS life cycle with Danni one day

Andrew,
There are several companies that host rides out here in Sonoma and Napa county.
Many of the club rides will start 7-9 am and you will be done by noon, so that leaves you the rest of the day to visit the wineries or sight see.
The thr bigest rides would be the wine country century. This is a rolling party and I firmly believe that it is possible to gain weight on this ride from all the food they have, and the BBQ following the ride.
The other two would be Levi's King Ridge Gran Fondo. This ride is a ball breaker. Lots of climbing, and if you are a real masochist, there is the terrible two which is 200 miles, and hits all the major climbs in the area. http://srcc.memberlodge.com/resources/Documents/TT-2008webmap.1.pdf It is part of the California Triple crown and is listed as one of their hardest rides. I think it is listed as 200 miles and 16,480 feet of climbing.
But there are many more shorter routes available, if you check out the local bike club they have a schedule of rides and an archive or rides and routes.
If you ever wanted to come out theis way, our bike club has scheduled ride almost every day of the week, and on the weekends, there may be multiple rides on each day. http://srcc.memberlodge.com/archive
I'd be glad to play tour guide to anyone that wanted to ride this area. The scenery is beautiful, if only the road were as nice. Most of the club rides take roads with space to ride, it's the condition of the roads that are lacking in places.
