15k COLD
Well I guess I'm committed. I signed up to run in a 15k for this weekend. I have ran a few 5k's and one 4 miler. Will I live to regret this?? I have a intense workout regiment but not a lot of running. This is a run I have always wanted to do and I am too impatient to wait another year so I decided to go for it. Any advice??

First off, have fun. Relax remember where you came from to where you are today. You can do this.
I too, am to impatient to wait for my next big step. I signed up for a marathon, which I truly not ready, but here is a plan i intend to use.

If you are anything like me you will be much more nervous going into the race than you will be actually doing it. I finished my first 15K a little over a month ago and I will say it was one of the most enjoyable races I have ran. I do a lot of 5ks but they only last about 30 minutes now, and I have only done 1 10K and there were 60K runners so well it was BUSY!
The 15K was just the distance where I really was able to push myself but I didn't pay the price in recovery for the day or next few.
As others have said play it smart and run when you can if you can't walk. The biggest victory will be in finishing.
Good Luck and look forward to your race report.

I err on the side of caution and hydrate for a day or so before. I don't do pasta or rices but I had a baked potato the day before my 15K. Breakfast the day of was a Protein Shake with a banana and a nutrigrain waffle.
I typically do a gel every 40 minutes when I am running for any time that is going to be much over 80 minutes and was freaked because I forgot my gel but I did fine. I also wear a hydration belt so I don't have to worry about what if I get thirsty before a water station.
Main thing is just have fun and enjoy it.
