Question about Toenails

Ok so a few months ago I got the awesome nasty black toenail, and it has never falling out.  I think what has happened is the new nail actually grew under the jacked up one.  So do I leave it and not worry or go to a podiatrist and get it taken care of?  It doesn't hurt  so I haven't really worried about it but am wondering now if maybe something should be done about it.

Well what happens on the next go round with black toe? Are you going to just keep a collection going?  Sorry, I am just being a smart ass. I would suggest going to have it removed. Personal opinion.

um, real runners rip it off with their teeth.

Keep an eye on it.  If a new nail is growing under it, then the top will eventually fall off or something. Just make sure to keep the nail short and see a doctor if anything painful or odd happens.

when it comes off I am going to put it on a chain and award it to Jay after he beats me on our Full Marathon in March.  I might actually have a few more by then.

That's what happens to me. Toenail goes black, new one grows up underneath and eventually the black one falls off. If it's not bothering you, I don't see why you have to do anything. It will fall off eventually.

I am in this same exact situation with the black toenail I got from Ironman Louisville. It doesn't bother me or hurt, and I never wear open toed shoes so nobody sees it.

I wore nail polish on mine this summer to hide it, since I wear a lot of sandals.  :0)
