may the carb-loading not kill me.

This coming Sunday I am attempting to run(ish) my first marathon.  I'm not as ready as I'd like to be, but the time is now, so that's that.  It will be a great learning experience to get ready for Goofy.

I have real trouble with carbs... I have landed in the hospital twice thanks to carbs causing gas that made me and doctors believe I was having a gall bladder attack.  Nothing like getting a morphine IV to keep you sane until you FART.

Anyway, wish me luck upping the carbs this week.  I will do the best I can, and rely on a lot of sugar on marathon day.

NERVES have set in!!

Good luck Sue,

hmm if I knew I could get morphine to help with the farts, they'd never get me out of the E.R.

I hope it all works out well for you.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

best of luck, i know you will do great.  how are you with whole grain breads or rice?  they are usually pretty good for me for carb loading.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

oh, you betcha for the whole grains!  brown rice pilaf for dinner last night!  special trip to whole foods for whole grain mac n cheese makings.  :)  whole grain bread in the freezer for peanut butter sandwiches!

I'm trying to avoid the white carbs best I can (oh, but they are oh so good!), but most likely to ship me to the ER in bulk (stupid soft pretzel!!).

Good Luck you will do awesome!

I am totally paranoid about carbs so for my Half I just took in a bit more for the days leading up to the race but not overly heavy at anyone time.

Thanks guys!

I'm going to give this thing my all.  My "all" isn't what it used to be with a bout of insomnia entering it's 3rd month and a mystery surrounding my lymph nodes as well as the usual life stress.  My therapist made a reasoned argument for me switching to the half, but I think I'm going to go for the full, and see what I can make of it.  It's flat, I've got a running partner and family support on the route.  I remind myself that there is no shame in stopping if I have to, and there are lessons to be learned for later use.

I can't wait to tell you all about it - whether it's 5 hours or 8.
