Well I really wanted to do the Pocono Mountain 70.3, despite having just done the full Ironman 4 weeks earlier, and I think I am paying the price now.

I am now sick, tired, sore, my back and neck still hurt, and mostly out of it mentally still, plus I can't stop eating, 1 full week after the 70.3.  Have not done any workouts since at all (I tried to swim, but my goggle were broken, and as an example of how mentally shot I am, I just said screw it and went home).     I think I need to resolve myself not to do anything for another week.  Had a 5 mile bridge run we were gonna do as a fam this morning and I had to back out cause no way can I run today.     Feeling broken.  Is the fire gonna come back?   Feeling just shattered at the moment.

It will come back once you start gearing up for your next event. I have been in that spot probably 4 or 5 times since surgery (6 yrs) and an currently in a little (big) funk. I think a week off is a great idea. You'll get it back! Go volunteer at a race. That can't hurt.

Yeah, the fire will come back. Give yourself some downtime to celebrate and enjoy. Get fresh legs and then grab a spin class or something easy. Then you can accelerate again. For peat sake, you did an iron and a half iron. You need some time to savor it, brag about it, and then hit it again.

I think so.

I found it very anti-climactic after my first anything race.
first sprint,
first 5k
first 1/2
first 1/2 ironman.

It was like I put so much mental energy into them that after it was over, there was a bit of a letdown.  Then the competative jerk in me stepped up and wanted to see if I could do better.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

pretty standard to have a big letdown/motivational lull after a big event (or a couple of big events).  you'll bounce back, taking some time off is a good idea.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.
