Spur of the moment Tri

Doh what did I do.

I got an email from one of the local companies that runs triathlons all spring & summer long.
I realized I hadn't done a complete tri all year, so I figured, it's the last race of the year, you better get on it if you want to race.

So I did.

Oh well at least it's a sprint.  As long as I don't drown, I should be able to finish this in my sleep.
Gotta go put the aero bars back on the bike.

I hope the river isn't too cold, because I don't plan on wasting the time putting on and taking off a wetsuit.  I hope to do the whole thing in my tri suit.

It's tiny, the swim is acros the American river, so couple hundred yards, then 5 mile bike and a mile run, easy peasy.  Like I said the only issue is the swim.  I haven't been swimming all year and I float like a rock.

I hear that it is snowing up in the mountains too, so by sunday that could make it a wee bit colder.
I did this one a year or so ago as an eary start to a season and tha****er was so freaking cold, I basically had to dog paddle acros.  I couldn't put my face in the water, it just took my breath away every time.  It sucks trying to swim with your head above water like that.

Anyhow it should be fun.

If you are interested in doing a Tri Danni, you should check these guys out
They run all kinds of events all year long.  Off road, on road, x-terra, from little tiny sprints like this one up to 1/2 ironman events, and they have training weekends where you can come up workout on the courses and get instruction as well.

It seems like they have stuff going almost every weekend.

good luck... that sounds like a fun event.  is it a super-sprint?
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Yeah a super sprint, they have both going on that day.  I thought that since I hadn't been swimming, I should pass on the event with the half mile swim.

Being such a short distance it will be a true sprint, at least for me.  I'm sure some of the faster guys will be done before I even get off the bike, but it's over and done with rapidly

I'm thinking 8-9 minutes for the run
15-20 minutes on the bike
as fast as I can doggy paddle across the river hahaha

I was thinking floaty wings and back stroke, but the water will be cold, so I want to get out of it quick

Yeah but it's 3 baby events,  I'm sure that with all the riding you put in your fitness level is good enough to complete a sprint tri.

I mean dang you rode fro S.F. to L.A.  That's pretty freaking awesome!
