Got another question...numb toes??

So, most of you know I finished my 60 mile walk last weekend.

Friday was 17 miles. Friday night I realized my big toe and the toe next to it had gone numb. I didnt really think much of it, just figured it would go away.
Saturday morning talked to Medical. They said to keep an eye on it and to check it at the check points to make sure I didnt get blisters and to squeeze them to make sure I had blood flow.
Sunday night after finishing and getting home, I started getting the feeling back.

One week goes by...

This past friday night, one of those toes went numb again. My nail is black...as I figured since those two nails hurt anyway. and Im prepared if they fall off, though hoping they dont.

Just seems unusual that a week later the toe is numb again and people are freaking me out that Im going to pull off my sock and leave my toe behind. Im getting on the phone and make an appt...

Thanks for listening to the ramble.

Is your 2nd toe longer than your big toe (even slightly, 1/8th of an inch or less).  If so, that's called Morton's Toe.

Sounds to me like you might have Morton's Neuroma of some form to me.  Toe and Neuroma may or may not be related, but the numbness suggests a nerve compression in the foot

Black toenails come from a too short or too wide toebox in the shoes.  You can buy little toecaps for them to prevent it in the future.  I wear a pair on my 2nd toes for long run

I had to really look to see if it was longer! it is by a hair.

I actually had my chiropractor check it out last night, he adjusted my feet. I didnt know they did that! felt great!!

I have an appt for something else with my PCP and I'll run it by her too for.

Basically, you need bigger shoes.

My toes are weird. The middle on is the longest on the left. Usually it's either the big toe or the one next to it. That toe is constantly losing toenails and it's definitely because shoes aren't made to have that part of the foot be the longest.

Thanks for the input!! Yeah, that nail is really dark now, Im sure It will fall off. I kicked something in the dark early this year and half fell off already, but had grown back before the walk.

I had my shoes custom fit as well as my walk evaluated and even got my shoes on the loose side as recommended.

I plan on walking again next year, meaning I'll be keeping up with my walking program so I'll have to figure something out.

Maybe the way you are lacing you up your shoes allows your foot to move too much??

I know that happens to me sometimes and then there goes that one nail.

But I don't worry about it too much. Nothing horrible happens and the nail grows back so I just shrug my shoulders and ignore it.
