What do you use for muscle aches and joint pain?
I know that with the Roux-n-Y surgery comes the no NSAID rule. So, what do you take instead. Tylenol just doesnt work the same. Now, I will admit that before surgery I was an ibuprophen junkie. I miss it more than fried chicken and ribeyes!!! So, if you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!!! (Thankfully, it is mostly soreness, so I am holding firm to the no NSAID's)

Lots of ice and hot baths. I'll use stuff like icy hot but im pretty sure the only thing it does is distract me from the original pain :-p

WARNING WARNING DO NOT LISTEN TO THE JERK!! You've been warned. About 2-3 times a year I will take an ibuprofen (1 per day) when I am in bad pain. Not saying to do it because of the pouch and intestine problems associated with it. Every time I take one I can feel my old stomach...The ibuprofen is irritating it...So it's not a regular thing. Only when I have pulled a muscle. Just me...Warning warning!!
cold baths or ice packs immediately post workout whenever I can. The tylenol sucks, but I do try it. I've been using samples of Perform gel I picked up at an expo - it's like IcyHot - but just the Icy. it feels good - could just be distraction, but that's ok with me.

Kat,
I have a prescription for Voltaren - a topical anti-inflammatory. It is rubbed directly on the area with inflammation and has worked wonders for me. It does not have to be digested, so it bypasses any effects to the stomach. I have shoulder and knee problems (including just completing a 28 mile hike on the Inca Trail) and have managed the inflammation with this stuff quite well.
I should mention that, not only did I have a DS, I have had peptic ulcer disease since I was 24 and also have a hiatal hernia. NSAIDS are a big NO-NO for me, but this stuff seems to work.
