I am a sore girl today (X-post and kind of long)
Yesterday I decided that I could do the same workout that The Cowboy (My SO) does with his Army Recruiter. BWAHAHAHAHA!! Right now I kind of want his Army Recruiter to fall off a cliff.. and I don't even know the guy. I am out of shape.
We did Iron Mikes. These are not so much an exercise as a form of torture. A nice alternative to having bamboo shoved under your nails, maybe. The way we do them is to lock your hands behind your head and stand with your feet about shoulder width apart. Take a small step forward and then lower yourself down until you are on one knee. Then, lift back up and bring your feet together. Because your hands are locked behind your head, this is done using ONLY your leg muscles. Repeat with the other foot. Lather, rinse, repeat.
This was followed by a workout called Cross-fit. Run (at a comfortable pace) for five minutes, then squats for 3 minutes and then push ups for three minutes then repeat. The logo for Cross-Fit is a stick figure throwing up. It's fitting.
The last thing I did was what I like to refer to as "Let Downs". I can NOT do a pull up. Nope. Not going to happen. I can pull until the cows come home and my feet will still be firmly planted on the floor. So, to try and build up SOME kind of muscle in my arms, I hold the bar and The Cowboy lifts me up and then I hang for a moment and slowly let myself down. I can only do about 12 of these before my muscles decide that Let Downs are too hard and, instead, I should do Fall Downs.
Today I am looking forward to a VERY exciting evening of trunk/ab exercises. (This is the area that needs the most work). If anyone has any suggestions for good ones, I would LOVE to hear them. As I get to choose the workout today, it's my turn to exact revenge. *evil grin*

I was in the Army for 5 years, I don't miss those workouts, just not really my thing anymore. I prefer triathlons. In the army we used to do flutter kicks and bicycles, where you lay on your back and pedal your legs as if you are on a bicycle, those used to hurt.

We do both of those in Karate. THe lack of anything resembeling an ass makes them very painful.

Sore is good! it means that you put in a solid effort!
For the most part I am always sore and as sad as it may sound I love it. I am off my game when I am not feeling some type of soreness.
Now pain that is different.
