and 5K and a 10K?
Hi all,
I am trying to set some goals for next year and to give me a training focus for this winter. I am interested in the Fargo "Go Far Challenge" that occurs before the Fargo Marathon in May 2012. It is a 5K on Friday night and a 10K on Saturday morning. You can walk/run both of them. I am easily walking a 5K almost daily and have started jogging parts of it. I thought if I could walk a fast pace on Friday, I could walk/jog the 10K on Saturday. Do you think I am overdoing it by shooting for both of them? IFor those of you who have never been to Fargo it is flat, flat, flat, so there are not any big hills to worry about. Thanks as always for the support !!

No reason you shouldn't be able to do both. If you train for the 10k then the 5k is a gimme.
Don't be suprised if you are able yup run the 5k by then. There is no better motivation for training than an actual event.
Also you will quickly learn that this is a group that rarely says you shouldn't attempt a race.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing how your training is progressing.

Both should be well within reason. Go for it!

Good for you for signing up! I would love to do our local 10K in November but I'm so scared that I STILL haven't signed up. I started running very recently and just don't know if I could be ready in time. I ran 3.5 miles this morning (which was my longest run to date!). Not confident that I can almost double my mileage in 8 weeks...
This event isnt until May of next year. :) But even then I doubt I will be running it. I hope to run the 5K and walk/jog the 10K. My expectiation is not to run it!!!! I just want to fini**** :)
So who cares if you walk/run it? I vote go for it and enjoy how good it feels. But thats just my 2 cents....that and 4 bucks will get you a cup of coffee (at Starbucks) What ever you do, keep on going!!!
