Hey EnF Fam,

I'm trying to figure out this whole recovery thing, what do you guys do after a workout? Carbs, nothing, recovery drink, chocolate milk? I'm just not sure what's the best thing...any ideas?

Oh and I can't do more than 5gm sugar per serving...

Thanks,

:Danni

depending on the length of activity - water and/or gatorade, for longer - protein drink (usually zero carb) or ice cream.  even longer:  Marathon protein bar (those are sugary though) or regular protein bar (I like Oh Yeah).  If I can get one, a big juicy burger.

Protein drink with a banana or an english muffin with Peanut butter.

My nut set my recovery as being 30grams of quick carbs, for workouts over 1 hour and heavy cardio.  On easier days it will be a Protein bar with equal carbs and protein ratio.

That's helpful thanks Paul!
Do you think that would be exponential? 60 carbs for 2hr workouts, 90 for 3hrs...etc? Or just a solid 30?

I wish I could answer that one but I was giving a straight 30.  The main reason giving to me was to work on replenishment of glycogen.  Since only a certain amount of glycogen can be stored there would be a limit depending in how your current glycogen stores are.

Right, makes sense....I wish I was a medical researcher and could get more WLS studies on athletes, there just isn't enough information around!
