I would love some help and suggestions in kick starting my official work out plan.  I walk 10 blocks each way to work each day, but I want to add some additional cardio and workouts into my day.  However, I tend to be one of those people that is always pushing my limits a bit too far and I'm afraid to push harder than my body can take based on the calories I am taking in.

What are some of your favorite workouts or what worked for you when you were just starting to add more activity?

Here are my thoughts on some realistic things you can do...It takes no money (well it could make or save you money) and could be done at anytime.  As I was losing the weight I found I could do more things...Become more active (was able to do more chores around the house).  The 2 things I'm going to suggest are hard physical work and making a walking path inside your place...Turn up the music and walk.
The first one...Hard physical work.  For some reason when I was losing the weight and would hit a stall, when I would do hard physical work my stall would break.  These are just ideas and may sound wacko...but they can help to build up endurance; Cleaning the car, washing windows, cleaning gutters, lawn and shrub work, doing the same at a family members house, moving someone.  I know it's a little outside the box (well way outside) but it gets the place straight, adds value to your property, cost nothing and aids with the weightloss.
Here is the other idea.  I had my WLS in October...Winter was coming up.  I just made a little path around the house and walked...Back and forth.  If I thought the neighbors were watching, no big deal, closed the curtains.  I put on my favorite music and just walked.  I timed myself to go further and further.  I found a 2 pound weight somewhere and used that too in my movement.  You can use any 1-2 pound object in the house (be creative).  As the weight drops it becomes easier and easier.  At that point you can become more adventurous and move into bigger and better...The sky is the limit!!
So yeah, I know they sound strange...But they worked for me.  Brian
