Savannah Century
Hi All,
This weekend is my Savannah Century ride. What do you all think about carrying a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich with me for the ride? I will have Nuun and Hammer Gels, but thought I might need something a little more substantial. I am watching the calories as well.
I don't know what the food and water stations will have at them, but wanted to make sure I am good to go.
Thanks,
Jay

I think it's a great idea but maybe minus the jelly.
IT was actually the food recommended to me by my Nut for rides since PB doesn't need to be refrigerated. I'm not sure how your Jelly will hold up if it's hot out.
The other choice could be some honey instead of the jelly. You could even premix it with the PB before putting it on the sandwich.
I recommend cutting it into 4 pieces so that you can manage them on the bike, no worries about putting the partially eaten sandwich away each time, just pull out the piece and eat it.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Looks like you are in for a lovely and flat century!
Should be great fun, and if your wondering what the food on hand will be, check their Facebook Page or email the organizers. They are usually happy to tell you what they've got.
For a supported century like this, I only carry, tubes, tire irons, electrolyte tablets, and car keys! Cuz they provide everything else.
Lots of people also bring plastic baggies to store stuff in their jersey pockets for later. The lighter the better though!
Good Luck and have a ball!!!
