Hello Folks!
I'm hoping to get VSG approval in the next 30 days. I feel fortunate that I'm in reasonably good health. I see there are at least a couple active cyclists on board here. I'm no racer but can pound out a solo 1-2 hour ride at about 16.5 MPH in my flatland world of Champaign/Urbana, IL. On weekends I usually get in a 3 hour ride. Currently, I am quite easily getting enough calories in a day to meet my needs and still maintain about a 500 Kcal deficit to loose weight. Started at 310 and down to 285. Based on some body composition studies I have been involved in I expect that I will still be in the 210-220 LB range if I do the right things after WLS.
On Days I don't get on the bike it tends to be HORRIBLE because I'm hungry but dealing with that. LOL On a typical day where I get 1 to 1:30 on the bike I'm eating about 3500 Kcals, give or take. I've maintaind a pretty steady average of losing 1 lb a week.
So...
I know that as I loose weight my Kcal needs will drop accordingly. Still, I am wondering how post-WLS cyclists get enough food in to make sure they peform well. Maybe it is easier than I think but I'm looking for thoughts on those that lean towards endurance exercises.
Thanks in advance!
