Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get motivated to exercise.  I have lost approximately 23 lbs so far and am waiting to for the insurance approval and would like to get an exercise program in place.  Could you let me know if it is a good idea to join a gym or should I just start with walking outside (although it has been in the high 90's here).  Is there a website that has sample workouts that would help me start....

most of us started by walking.  that is the best way to get moving, after a while you will start walking faster and longer and then your exercise options really open up (like the couch to 5K program if you would like to start running etc).
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Doing cardio is a very good thing pre-op as improving your cardio-vascular fitness decreases the risk of surgery.

I started by going for a walk at work with a friend most afternoons and then we started going to the onsite gym. He used the treadmill and I used the stationary bike.

You need to finid something you enjoy doing. Do you think you'd do better going to a gym, having an exercise buddy, doing things outdoors, doing things by yourself? These are the questions to ask yourself and the answers will help you pick an activity that you can stick with.
