Lums Pond Duathlon

Well, I was a no-show for this event today. 60 insane people did show up for the duo, and around 200 for the tri (only about a third of the registered participants). There were torrential downpours, and when I got up at 4am to get ready for the trek down to Lums Pond, there was thunder and lightning. When my running buddy picked me up, we drove for about a mile before we decided it was ridiculous to go and sit in a downpour and wait to run, bike and then run again. When we drove through a couple of large rain deposits on the road we were convinced that a t-shirt and potential medal were not enough to brave rain-soaked roads and muddy roads.
So I headed home. Dried off my bike and went back to bed. Decdied to stay healthy and get ready for the next event.

Based on the results of those that particiated the bike part of the event couldn't have been more than a 8-mile jaunt, since the winner did it in 13-minutes. Also couldn't figure out how the transition times were under 25 seconds. Assume that people were not even changing their shoes.

Probably a good choice. There is always another.

my father and brother in law both were signed up (du for my father, the tri for my bro-in-law).  they both bagged it due to the weather too.  Good call on all your parts.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

either no shoe change or biking shoes already clipped into pedals, so kick running shoes off and put the other shoes on while pedaling.

about 3.5 minutes on they cover how to do this.  I'm not crazy or coordinated enough.
