I forget if I asked this before or not.  Was listening to some Jackson Browne and was thinking this would be great to listen to while riding my bike...Then I'm thinking..."Are you nuts!!  Your bones may be more brittle because of malabsorption...BE SAFE!!??"  So on public roads do you listen to music when you're on your bike??  How loud do you crank it??  Thanks, Brian

No, I don't. I want to experience being outside. Also, it's against the law in a lot of places.

No, that's just way to dangerous. But on a long solo ride I have been known to sing to myself

Me too! When I'm training it just happens, but I actually pick out songs to sing for my IMs.

Yes! In training it just happens, I will be riding along and I will just start singing. Maybe I should pick out songs to sing for IM, sing my own playlist.....

I'm working on mine for Ironman Canada. My run song is called Positive Mind and it starts out talking about relaxing and breathing from  your gut not  your chest which is perfect for running!

My swim song is by the same group and is really about surfing but all the water imagery works for swimming too. My favorite line is: "Like a zombie, I will follow every drop; I'm not going to stop until my arms fall off." Because my arms do get tired in the swim.

I don't have a bike song  yet. I'm still working on it.

Boy, on other websites, this sparks debates like you would not belive.
Depends on the ride.  If it is short and crowded, no, I have hard enough time watching out for others.  If I am by myself, on a long 70-100 mile ride, yea, I will throw them on and used them if I get bored.
Some say its too dangerous, but if you are out on the hyway, being a good biker, and the truck hits you, would the Ipod really made a differance.  Truck going 60+ mph, you doing 20, would you have had time to react anyways?

In town, bike paths, group rides, heck no, you should be beaten for wearing them.

Happy riding.

I can't imagine listening to music around here, I have near death experiences everytime I go out.  After 6 hours on the bike, I'm usually mentally fried as much as physically from concentrating so much.  I'm never really bored when riding, as opposed to running when you just want to zone out from time to time.

I am going to be moving to a place that has a place for bike storage and a huge park with trails.  I can see why you wouldn't want to listen to music while riding on the streets but why isn't it ok to listen to music on bike trails?  I will be new to biking and I just was wondering.
