OMG Rock N Roll Providence

is this weekend.  I haven't done a long run in.........I don't even know.  I had a very active vacation last week in Mexico which even included running outside, treadmill work along with hiking, climbing Mayan ruins, rappelling and zip lining, but really, not how I would normally plan to train before a half.  I have not figured out how to manage heat and humidity yet.  at all.  It beats me into submission every time.  But I signed up for this crazy race and I'm gonna finish one way or the other.

I usually get nerves the day before, but I'm pretty panicked now, so I know that I'm really unprepared.  I'm going to follow my reguarly scheduled marathon training plans for this week and hope that it builds some confidence.  Otherwise, I can know that I'm going into this with the ability to finish on my feet, but running it will be merely a bonus.

The upside is my sister will be running her very first half, and she is SOOO ready!  I'm super proud of her, she's been training all summer.  My boyfriend is also doing this as his first half.  While he is not as prepared as my sister, he did even MORE running than I did on our vacation, including heat of the day street running in super-humid, sunshine near the equator!  He's gonna do great.  My hope is to try and keep up with him for the first 6 or 7 miles.  I feel lame that I'm the most experienced of us and the least prepared, but my asthma just really makes me miserable in the summer and I've yet to really figure out how to cope.  Part of it is mental and I just need to try more, but I haven't gotten over that hump yet.   YET.  I shall overcome.

Wish me luck!

I know that you will be fine but what I would do is throw in a tenth of a mile walk at every mile mark. That is a way that I have faked some halves in the past. Congrats to your sister. Your hard work is rubbing off!!!
