Sunday Workouts!!!

After nearly a month of doing essentially nothing I ran/walked 2.3 yesterday with success.  I went out today for more of the same and the result was different.  I walked to the end of the street, ran about 100 feet and walked home.

I think it's time for a Dr visit.  The chiropractor is getting less effective at controling my back pain.

Anyway, what did you do today?
Scott

Cycled 35-miles early this morning. Mainly rolling hills. Tried to beat the heat and humidity. Didn't work out very well.

had a coaching session in an endless pool with one of the guru's of immersion swimming.  Felt like I learned a ton, wish I had done this a long time ago.

So Andrew, tell me about the Total Immersion class.
I was wanting to take the 2 day session they have every couple months in San Francisco.  I need someone to really break down and teach me from the beginning.  I've just been leary of putting out the 500 dollars for the 2 day class.

Thanks,

Scott

Hey Scott,  well as it turns out the founder of total immersion and hq is actually in new paltz, which is actually a town right up from me.. who knew!?  The session I had was in an endless pool with video, which was pretty cool.  Basically total immersion focuses on balance and streamlining, not so much on the more traditional "catch and pull" methodology.  From all the reading I have done, for guys like me, this is a perfect approach.

I did a two hour session first analyzing my current pathetic stroke, and then he basically blew it up via 4 or 5 different drills that teach the components of the stroke.  By the end of two hours I basically have a new stroke to work on, and these various drills for pool work that should help a lot.

I paid about 150 bucks for a two hour session with him, but the guy I saw is like a zen master of TI for long course triathletes, so to me it was well worth it.  I am planning to have another session in a couple weeks (2 weeks before louisville) just to fine tune a bit more.

Thanks Andrew, you are the second recommendation I have had for them.

Now I just need to save up the money for the two day course.

by the way, if I was a gazillionaire, I would most definitely put an endless pool in my basement.  Its gotta be the collest thing ever, and I am quite sure it would make one an awesome swimming if you could train in it regularly.

40 minute spin.  But the best part that could only happen to me, is I managed to get a flat on the bike trainer.  I'm going to go with..... Wait for it....

I was just going so fast that the friction heated up the tire and melted the tube.  I have yet to take it apart and find that I actually pinched the tire, so for now it was just my awesomeness that caused the flat.
