Wow!!!!!!

What a challenge to overcome. I'm actually new to commenting on the forums, but I had to put my big toe in here. How are you going to condition your body for this one?

Well anyway, I know how you're going to do it, 1 pedal push down @ a time...

Cool, have fun.

Watch out for the rest stops.  If it is anything like the one my club hosts, you can actually gain weight on our century ride.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

Awesome! That century is a week after Ironman Louisville and my husband is doing it, so I am planning on volunteering for it. See you out there!

I'll keep you all updated. I hit the road again this evening and did a hill route. I say hill, but nothing like the 3,000 foot climbs of North GA. Took me down to about 14mph avg, but I seemed to hit a good cadence after the first 10 miles. I think I will be fine as long as there are not too many insane mountains in Savannah. :)

The biggest issue I am trying to leanr right now, is hydration and eating. I still have the mindset of a bariatric patient, but my body is needing more energy. I can feel it. So I'm munching on some granola during the ride and drinking some watered down gatorade.

Any suggestions for those who have gone before, please share.

Thanks,
Jay

The only hill in Savannah is the bridge, that's it, everywhere else is pancake flat. I do all my bike training in Savannah, and have been looking for hills, and there are none. Really sucks because I am doing Ironman Louisville in 31 days and its a hilly bike course, so this should be interesting. I will find the occasional overpass bridge, but that's it.

Oh by the way. I hit my 100% doctor's goal weight today. So, my surgery is officially successful, I still have more to lose, but pretty sweet milestone.

You're going to have a great time! I did my first century this past April, and have done a few since, and they are crazy addictive!

Make sure your getting enough carbs, both complex and simple to keep the energy flowing. And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Plus, try to make half of your fluids electrolytes, so that you don't cramp up.

Good luck and enjoy!
