Hair loss
I have not had my surgery yet, but I have been to one of the support group meetings. They talked about hair loss in this meeting. The PA conducting the meeting said that the hair loss will subside after 9 months. She stressed that getting 70 grams of protein each day was essential. She also suggested taking a biotin supplement to support hair and nail growth. She also said to be sure not to color or perm hair for atleat 1 year after surgery. Several of the people who had already had the surgery suggested using salon grade shampoos and conditioners, such as Biolage or Nexus.
Mine started at 11-12 weeks and was coming out like crazy. I'm at 19 weeks now and it seems to have slowed down quite a bit. I got a short bob and its hardly noticeable.
I am doing all the things everyone suggests and it seems to be helping the hair grow - I have those little "baby" hairs sticking up everywhere. I take biotin, get in 100g of protein a day, and use the Nioxin products on my hair. They are expensive but worth it.

Mine started at 1.5 weeks out and lasted about 17 months. But I have issue with protein digestion so even with eating a lot of protein, my serum protein levels are low.
I never went bald though or needed a wig and right now, at almost 3 years out, my hair is as full as it's ever been in it's life.
