Any of my RNY buddies here use Hammer Endurolytes?
I used to use Salt Sticks, but I am not a heavy sweater, so using Salt Sticks while cycling and running they would dry me out since it was causing my body to take fluids out of other places in order to process the Salt Sticks.
Lately I have been using full-power Gatorade, 1 bottle every 30 miles on the bike, 1 bottle every 6 miles on the run. I alternate with water while cycling and running, i.e. for every 4 or 5 sips of water I take a sip of Gatorade. Since I have been training in 100+ degree heat I find I am still cramping, so I am looking into Hammer Endurolytes.
At Muncie 70.3 I took the ironman perform drink and it gave me mild gastric distress.
Have you tried them? What do you think?

i just started using them after massive cramps during my a century in prep for this year's RAIN. The next week i took 2 an hour for my next century and had less cramping. during RAIN I took 3 an hour (still had massive cramps), but am convinced i would have DNF'd without using them due to the heat.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

Bill,
It sounds like you sweat about as much as me. You probably need 5-8 p/ hour of the Enduralytes. I know you have done a Vo2MAX test. You should get a salt / sweat test to see how much electrolite you are losing while sweating. Just a thought. I need about 1200mg p/ hour (give or take depending on the heat) to keep things flowing and not cramping. One tab every 15 minutes and a double shot when I take my gel at 45 minutes... Sports Drink and Stinger Honey Gels are the ticket for me...

I have VSG not RnY but I think for electrolytes it doesn't make a big difference.
Anyway, I use Endurolytes and like them a lot. I like that I can control how much I take depending on conditions, which I can't as much with the electrolytes in my sports drinks and gels and stuff.
I set an alarm on my sports watch for every 15 min. and on the half hour I do mental "electrolyte" check and then take anywhere from 0-2 of them depending on how I feel. Every hour on the hour, I take a gel which also has electrolytes. The rest of the time I am doing PowerBar Energy Bites and they have some sodium as well. I also drink sports drink when I feel like I'm not getting enough calories but sometimes I fill up a bottle and only drink 4 oz. the entire ride so I don't really count on them for electrolytes.

I use the endurolytes, and I think it helps if I keep them going in a steady manner. It's when i forget or get behind the gun that I start to suffer.
The best I do is setting the timer on my watch to remind me when to drink, eat, or take an endurolyte tab.

I don't do endurance...Though some days it feels like it with the bike and bus to work. The two things I grab before heading out is a small slice of banana (about 1 oz) and drink about 2 oz of orange juice. I also keep extra banana and OJ in my backpack...Cheap potassium when I need it. Brian PS I will keep nuts and banana chips in my pockets also...Just me.
I am the heaviest sweater you will ever meet. I need, in the heat, between 1000mg - 1400mg of sodium / electrolyte replacement per hour, and in the heat, I need 65-80 oz of fluids per hour. I DO use Enduralytes and love them. I used to use LAVA Salts, but I like the Enduralytes because they have a more well-rounded mix of Electrolite replacement versus Salt Stick and other tablets...
