proof that C25K works!

just wanted to share that I ran ANOTHER 5K this weekend...was my 2nd race, have been running pretty consistantly on my own since the 1st one I did in May, but never thought I would do so well with this one :)

Finish time was 26.47!

Shaved 3 minutes off my time...holy crap what a WOW moment.  I am amazed by things I can accomplish thanks to WLS.  A year ago today it would have taken me 26 minutes to walk a mile, now I'm hooked on running and can't wait to keep challening myself.

Here are some race pics:

Wow!  That is so awesome.  I'm jealous of you and your race time.  I bet you feel so good about yourself.  I would!

I just started trying to run last week.  I can do a WHOLE mile (may not seem like much to you but to me it may as well be a marathon!  lol).  Anyway, can't wait until I can do my first race.  I'll be sporting that race tee all over town!

Any beginners tips?  Send 'em my way.

hey JsSkinny!
thank you!
and 1 mile is  GREAT! keep with it.  the key for me was consistancy...i kept going even when i thought i couldnt.  you will be amazed by how much your body is capable of once you can get past the mental stuff.  The couch2 5K program is awesome and really gets you going.  Don't worry about speed in the beginning, focus on time & your breathing.  That way you can build a foundation of stamina and strength. The speed will come later (as i am still finding out).  You will find a "groove" that works for you.  You can do this and will find that running/jogging is such a great high!

good luck! :)

Awesome job!!  I have just started to switch over to running from walking.  Loving it, so far!  Today I managed to run/walk 1 min. intervals..and did 3.2 miles in 38 minutes.  Not too bad considering the heat and choking from the gravel roads as the cars drove by!  LOL

 Congratulations---that is a fabulous accomplishment!!

I just have a few questions about the Couch to 5k program and your experience.
- Were you ever a runner previously?
-When you first started the program, did running feel "natural"? I have started a few times, never getting very far into the program, because running just feels so laborious and unnatural to me...I have very little endurance it seems, although I can fast-pace walk for an hour and a half.
-Will I get used to it if I stick to it?
My son is a serious runner and has encouraged me to stick with it...he is convinced that running is the key to losing weight. He doesn't have a weight issue but, as a teen, he was quite overweight and started running which was a big part of him losing the excess weight. I have about 15 lbs that do not want to leave me, but I would be very happy to get rid of them!

keep up the good work!
