Question of the Day: What brand of running shoes do you wear?

I ran in a new brand (for me) this morning -- Saucony. OMG - LOVE! I'm a huge Nike fan but I refuse to ever give them a dime now that they've re-signed Michael Vick for endorsement deals. I thought about going back to New Balance and was torn but man, these things ROCK the house!

I would also like to try Brooks some time but I can't see dropping the $$ for something I have to replace every three months (and nope, I haven't been evaluated by a running store yet except to be told I have high arches).

What brand do you wear?

Be happy.

I've been wearing Asics. I'm on my 3rd pair. That's what they recommended at the running store and I love them.

I think mine are Asics. I tried some Brooks, took them home for a day, but returned them promptly. I didn't really like them (it may have just been the pair I tried but who knows...)

Asics Gel Nimbus.  I need a 4EE.  A 2EE seemed to fit my foot ok, maybe a little snug,  But the differenece is night and day on my knees and the bottom of my feet.
Glad I got fitted.  It made all the difference in the world.

Usually New Balance because they tend to run wider than the other manufacturers.

But I always look through the sales at the local running store.  I'll give any of them a try as long as they feel comfortable and don't cause me any pain when running.

I don't think I have ever been able to find a pair of Nike shoes that would fit my feet.

New Balance, Saucony, Asics have all been worn in the past.

Good to know about the New Balance. I think I'm gonna see if I have some luck with them.

Love Brooks!  Just started wearing them last year after wearing Nike for years. Don't have a problem with Nike but Brooks seems to work best for me. I actually worry more about Tiger Woods and Lebron being endorsed by Nike. I also have a new pair of Asiics that I'm breaking in. Different feel but they don't seem to make me any faster.

Every  three months to replace your shoes. Wow, you must be putting some mileage on those shoes. You should be able to get five hundred miles plus on a pair of good running shoes. Spend more and you'll replace less often. I get my shoes in January at a loft sale at our running store. I get three pairs for just over a hundred bucks. and save about three hundred.

When I go to the local running shoe store, I will try on different shoes until I find one that makes me feel like I'm walking on a cloud. Half of the time I walk out with Asics Evolution. A few times I have gotten the Asics Foundation which are about $30 less than the evolution and have a little less padding. I have also worn Avis, New Balance, Saucony, and Brooks. Through research and trial and error, I have found out that as a larger person, I need a motion control shoe. They feel the best and make my back feel good. When I get over about 300 miles, I can really start to feel it in my back and knees. The last thing is that you can always go bigger but make sure you don't go too small. My ideal shoe size is a 12.5 2E but I have gone as large as a 14 if that was the size that felt the best. Never have I thought, "I wish I'd gone smaller".

I just need to start running again but either too lazy or too busy to do so.  I am glad you posted though because I can not believe that Nike resigned Michael Vick..holy crud are they crazy.  I am with you and will not buy anything Nike as long as they are endorsing him.
