Way to go! Don't know if I will make it into the Goofy, it might sell out before I get the chance to register. I have to wait until ironman Louisville is over and done with since that is going to be a big financial hit for us. Ahhh, the life of a military family, but I must say, I am proud of myself for living frugal and stretching our dollars(except when it come to my triathlon stuff, but its my one guilty pleasure)

I've never done a stand-alone marathon either, Sue. I've done one at the end of an Ironman but it's not remotely the same thing.

LOL, hopefully you will be able to be real mellow at the half and wake up with fresh legs for the marathon.

It's just a completely different experience from doing a stand-alone race. It's more about slogging through it.

As an example, I have a friend who is fast enough to qualify for the NYC marathon. But he's never done the marathon at the end of an Ironman at even a 12 min. mile pace.

Plus all my friends who have done both say their legs are much more thrashed after doing a marathon than after doing an Ironman.

not to worry, with the right training it should be no problem at all.  the goofy i did last year was my 2nd, and i can tell you, the disney course is super first timer friendly.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I'm super excited to enter a race just knowing that my honest goal is to finish the damn thing!

I will run a stand alone Full this fall with an interest in my time, but Goofy is all about the fun and completion (for me).
