OK, due to my health issues you all know I've been down for a while. Any run is a struggle right now. I signed up for a trail half 10/1 and I know I can be ready for that. What about a full on 10/15 ???

i think you are ok, what is your long run now (8 miles)?  if you are running 7 or 8 miles now, you can follow a 15 or 16 week schedule.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

looking back @ my goofy training schedule my long run for the week from 14 weeks to race were:

7, 10, 12, 10, 14, 15, 12, 13.1, 17, 19, 12, 20, 12, race

i think you have 17 or 18 weeks to race now?  i used a modified higdon's so my numbers won't match directly with his plan and i modified it to run a half on turkey day.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

Someone on this forum once told me this is not the place to come for people to say No.  That being said I haven't done a full yet, but totally believe that you are the type of person that could pull one off.

Good Luck.

Check out John Bingham's Blog. He also has a good book and a few plans for training.

Edited: Sorry the link doesn't seem to work. Its www.waddle-on.com. His book is Marathoning for Mortals.

no worries.. if you are running 8 right now, you got it by Oct.  Bill and I followed very similar plans (modified Hidgon).  The only thing I would say that you might not like, is I'd suggest you'll need to cut down on the lifting a bit...

Thats got me a little torn. Lifting is my passion... But I want to finish a marathon as well.

If you need some rest breaks check out Jeff Galloway's training plans.  They incorperate walk breaks.  If you can do a half than you can run/walk a full.

The thing that I liked about the goofy was how fun the half was when I was in full shape.  I think that you would find the same thing.  You will have a great half if you are in shape for a full.
