how do you approach another wls person?
I joined a gym Friday and I've been every day since to use the pool. Today at the pool there was a lady who I really suspect has had wls. She's got a whole bunch of extra skin and her shoulders are sort of boney looking, like mine. I wanted to talk to her but I don't know how to approach someone. I'm only 3 months out and while I've lost about 70lbs total, I don't look like I've lost weight, kwim?
Any suggestions on how to approach this person? I'd love to talk to her about her journey and her fitness but I just don't know how.
Thanks!!

If I were chatting with her a bit I might throw in that I had WLS and see if she has anything to say. I'd give her the option to bring it u*****t.

Approach her as you would any person. If she wants to share her journey, she will share it. Not everyone is open to sharing. I know several people that are almost eight years out and will still not open up about their surgery. They simply tell their co-workers that they have lost weight through diet and exercise.

what they all said, Carrie. KUDOS to you for finding an exercise that you enjoy however, I would caution anyone from making assumptions about someones weight loss efforts or journey. She may not have had surgery. Simply start a conversation about the pool or how good the water feels, etc but don't assume she (or anyone) had WLS.
