Whats next
So my first 10K is quickly approaching and will be a done deal on July 4th. My biggest fear here is the hydration. Atlanta is just hot and nasty during the summer, but fortunately they have numerous water stations on the course and I have a bottle to carry. But I know this will soon be over and I need a new short term goal to push towards. So I have found a 15K in Sept with another 5K in Aug. I feel pretty good that I can add another 3 miles between Juy 4th and August.

Anyone in the area should give it a go!

I bet you could find yourself a 1/2 marathon.
I completed my first 1/2 without ever running further than 8 miles.
Yeah I had some soreness afterward, but I gutted it out and finished without walking.
I ran my second one 20 days later and it felt so much better than the first one.
See how you feel with the 10k if it doesn't kill you then train towards the 1/2 marathon.
Even if you don't do the half marathon, You will still be getting the training in and put it to use towards the 15k run.
Whatever you do, don't stress yourself out over it. Enjoy the fact that you can do it and more importantly that you are doing it.
Best of luck,
Scott

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
the 5k will have to be a last minute decision for me, i'll be a couple of weeks out from the Indiana ride in early august.
just a thought for you and your goals. the ATL turkey day half marathon is pretty cool (and a great way to earn your bird). it was the first 1/2 marathon that i did in 2009. the course has changed to a loop since then, it used to be a point-to-point down peachtree (including the peachtree 10K route in the midddle) and ending @ turner field. now it starts and ends @ turner field. i think i'm doing it this year.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

I have been looking at it pretty hard. I like that you can join a pace team which I think would really help me. I try to pace myself on others but sometimes I find I am running faster or they are running faster than I can maintain. I like the idea of being able to follow someone who is running a set pace.
You know me though... Saying I am thinking about it means that I will end up doing it.
