Update
So today was PT session number 2 and we have finally begun to work on strengthing the muscles so I can get back to it. Therapist said 2-3 weeks of these strengthening exercises and I should be able to start working back into my routine.
Talked to him about the IT Band and he said Ice and Stretching and foam roller, everything I pretty much knew. He figures it was probably because I had stopped so much of moy routine then jumped right back into the running.
He wants me back at the gym working lower body, just not doing more to the shoulder than he has set. I know stopping the gym for the period I did doesn't seem like the best thing, but for me and the way I am I know it was. I'm the type of person that would have said "Hmmm shoulder don't hurt today lets swim, or lift" and then I would be back at square one. I have learned enough about myself through this that I feel comfortable heading back to the gym and leaving the shoulder alone, besides if I didn't and Bill caught me I am sure I would get it from him .
So Gym it is tomorrow and yes I am looking forward to it!

Excellent! Sounds like not only on your way to shoulder recovery and restrengthening, but you have also gained ground on the mental aspect of listening to your body and allowing it the time it needs. Have fun in the gym.
...And LEAVE the shoulder alone, regardless how good it feels.
