Just announced they are doing a 140.6 in NYC in 2012..  Wonder if I can get in.

No 140.6 for me next year, but I might want to do this one in 2013, so if I do I will probably be a volunteer for the inaugural race. I was already having trouble deciding between Florida and Wisconsin, now I have to put NYC into consideration.

i just saw this and was going to post it here...  this may get me off my duff and try a full distance IM. even though the swim is in the freakin hudson river :) (at least it's with the current)...
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

swim is in the hudson, bike is on the palisades parkway which will be closed to traffic, and the run goes over the GW - its an epic course.

I haven't checked out the entry page if it even exists, but one of my friends on Facebook said that they were talking about this on the radio and the estimated entry fee is going to be $1,000

Hopefully that isn't true.

I'd be surprised, Seht. The entry fees for NA Ironmans are all pretty close to each other.

Anyway, I may do this in 2013. I don't want to sign up for any in 2012 because I have NO IDEA what my job situation will be next year but I'm sure I won't be in a position to train for an Ironman if I have a new one and probably won't be able to afford it if I don't!
