Zooma Annapolis 10k

Well I (kinda) successfully ran my first 10K.  I can't believe I only started running on New Year's Day!  I ran the whole way except for the water breaks and finished in 1:25:08 (13:43 pace).  Race conditions at 7:00 this morning were excellent - about 70 degrees, overcast, with a breeze off of the harbor.  My pace was a little slower than I would have liked but I just found out I have a bone spur between the ball of my left foot and my toes plus there were way more hills than I had anticipated (and I work in Annapolis).  I also was only able to run twice in the last two weeks because of foot pain.  I have an 8K in Norfolk, VA in two weeks and I'm betting it's going to be boiling that day.  Thanks so much for letting me brag a little!    Julie

Congratulations! That's wonderful, and a great PR for a first race. I'm jealous, I can't run a 10K yet. Way to go! Go luck on the 8K. Hope your foot heals fast.

congrats!  great job especially given that you weren't 100% healthy with your bone spur issue.  good luck on the 8k...

Congrats! Be proud! Take care of that bone spur, my dad had one and got custom made insole and they got him running again. Way to get up those hills!

Thanks everyone!  Considering I couldn't walk 10 yards this time last year without being in pain I'm thrilled at how far I've come.  Now if I could only increase my speed.  Oh well, one thing at a time!

awesome job Julie!!  I am sure the leg speed will come with time -- at least that is what I am telling myself as I slog through my C25k training so I can run my first 5k in July.

Glad you posted - love the inspiration reading this gives me.

I am creating my own revolution and PAMdemonium reigns!
